Guiding Minds, Changing Lives: The Journey of Dr Prerna Kohli and MindTribe

In a country where conversations around mental health are still emerging, Dr Prerna Kohli has spent three decades breaking barriers and building trust. A four-time gold medallist and a clinical psychologist with a Ph.D. from Aligarh Muslim University, she has dedicated her life to helping people lead happier, more balanced, and meaningful lives.

Dr Kohli was the first clinical psychologist in India to be awarded by the Hon. President of India. She has advised the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), served on the NITI Aayog Nutrition Committee, and worked tirelessly toward destigmatizing mental health across India.

From Practice to Purpose

In the early years of her career, Dr Kohli noticed that therapy in India was often seen as a last resort. People hesitated to reach out because of fear, cost, or stigma. Determined to change this, she began designing sessions that were deeply personal, practical, and rooted in empathy.

Over time, her private practice became a place of trust for individuals, couples, and families. As her impact grew, she realized the need for a larger ecosystem — one that could make quality therapy accessible to everyone, not just those in metro cities.

The Birth of MindTribe

That idea became MindTribe HealthCare Pvt. Ltd, a mental-health organization that combines compassion with structure. MindTribe is built on a simple promise: therapy should be easy to access, affordable, and effective.

Today, MindTribe is home to a growing team of psychologists who offer counselling in multiple Indian languages, both online and offline. It provides individual therapy, couples therapy, teen counselling, group sessions, and workshops that address everything from anxiety and self-esteem to relationships and work-life balance.

At its core, MindTribe is a space where science meets sensitivity — where evidence-based practice is delivered with genuine human warmth.

A Growing Community of Care

Dr Kohli’s philosophy is simple: mental health is for everyone. Whether someone is struggling with burnout or simply wants to live more mindfully, therapy is a tool for growth, not a sign of weakness.

Under her leadership, MindTribe has grown into one of India’s leading mental-health organizations. With over 100 psychologists and thousands of clients helped, the platform continues to expand its reach through free workshops, training programs for young psychologists, and community initiatives aimed at making therapy a normal part of everyday life.

The company’s tagline — “Empowering Minds, Transforming Lives” — reflects both its mission and its results.

Awards and Recognition

Dr Kohli’s work has been recognised nationally and internationally. Apart from the Presidential honour, she has been featured by leading media houses such as NDTV, Times of India, Hindustan Times, and Forbes India for her contribution to mental health advocacy. She is also a TEDx speaker, an author, and a mentor to hundreds of aspiring psychologists.

Looking Ahead

Dr Kohli envisions a future where every individual — regardless of background, income, or geography — has access to mental-health care. She is currently focused on expanding MindTribe’s digital footprint, launching regional-language therapy programs, and building emotional-wellness curricula for schools and corporations.

In her words:
“Mental health isn’t a privilege. It’s a basic part of living well. When people heal their minds, they change their lives — and slowly, they change the world around them.”
